Yes suction nozzle for shallow water you can pull it out of the water and not lose prime. Plus a jet log has to be at or below waterline to work right. I use HEAVY DUTY layflat except for the last 6 feet to the nozzle that's regular flexible pressure hose so it can attach to the nozzle easily. I use a trash pump 2 inch 158 gpm.

Yeh, you should be able to make a good sucking 3 inch, with that pump, if you use a nozzle instead of a jet tube. that pump will put out about 145-150 gals a minute. I had a 5 inch that ran on 350 a minute pump, the jet tube has to be jetted at a 21 degree angle for max. suction. I used a 5 1/2 inch pipe for the jet, with a 3/4 in orfice, Grubstake

The best way to utilize a jet boat to power your dredge would be to have a conventional dredge, but without motors. Then, to power the dredge, just hook up a hose from the jet boat pump to the dredge venturie. This would avoid problems mentioned above when the sluice box is placed on the jet boat itself.
